Welcome to my preview of the Los Angeles's Bradbury building courtyard. I decided to really try and show of my modeling chops here. Also I have decided to keep a work log of the model to help show how I model and prepare the model for later additions early on to speed up the over all process. All of these shots are WIP and are subject to a ton of change. That's kind of the point isn't it? Without further ado, here are the first shots from the first night of work.

Stairs

This image is a set up of the stairs just after the entrance walkway. You can see my slicing in preparation of adding smaller detail banisters around the pathway. Eventually, the staircase itself will be lined with ironcast decorative railings.

These two shots show off a view from what will eventually be the first floor. You can already see some crude slices preparing the ground level for doorways. Your eyes are also not deciving you, the columns are currently floating in the air. The space is for the first floor marble flooring to be put in. The part in the middle where the railing doesn't connect will eventually house the elevator shaft. That is another part that will be fun to model due to its ironcast decorations.

column

The last shot for this entry is a close up of the column indentions. A few people who have already seen these were interested in how I put them together so I created this closer shot. Also note that none of the columns are straight. The Bradbury building using the more traditional slight bulge in the middle of them.
